Have we not got bl**dy religions without more being added?

Although, at least Greek and Roman mythology had some decent stories! (But that was all they were)

Each to their own!

Some use churches, some use temples, some use mosques, some use sinnagogs, others use a dance hall with singing bands and dancing preachers, some pray to the sky god in the old testament, some to the mountain gods, some to the sea, others to the devil, some to extra terrestrial life forms..Its a big gig in the sky in which the players are all different, even the rules are a mixed bag of anyting goes in which war will be fought to protect one set of rules from another...

Its a crazy game of nothingness in which a whole lotta really narrow minded people lose sight of who they are in order to find out where they came from...Quite sad really

It's as legitimate as the Hebrew mythology that Christianity is founded on.

" ............ after the conversion of the Roman Emperor Constantine." ???

So, in spite of the evidence, this myth is STILL being peddled.

Constantine was NEVER converted. He was the Pontifex Maximus (Pope) of the Roman World. All he did was give Christianity equal status with Mithraism, Isis and the GraecoRoman gods!

On his deathbed, every high priest of EVERY religion was gathered round to welcome him into the afterlife. The Christians were just better at promoting themselves and took the points, since they won that particular religious race .... then proceeded to rule by the sword for then next millenia!

Pedantic? Maybe. But it's better to be right than misquoted!

Santa claus and the easter bunny?? 'fraid not. Lobo killed them! Check it on Google.

Every religion is nothing but legend and myth, smoke and mirrors. We need to grow up and leave these things behind.

But, I suppose until then, Zeusists (?) have as much right to worship whomsoever they wish.

Or is Greece not signed up to the UN and its articles, wherein religious freedom is enshrined?

5....Messalina..I read that he wore a pentacle, which was supposedly the first item of jewellery to represent the crucifixion of Christ, before he took to wearing a christian cross.

#5: it's true Constantine never actually "converted" personally, at least not until shortly before he died (which is debateable) ... hey, he still had a lot of sinning that needed to be done, but there is no denying that he contributed greatly to the spreading of christianity in europe.

The equal status thing was actually the emporer Galerius, Constantine was the first to give christianity favor. Of course, he was also responsible for the Council of Nicea, which resulted in the first uniform christian doctrine.

#6 "Every religion is nothing but legend and myth, smoke and mirrors. We need to grow up and leave these things behind."

You state opinions as facts. The truth is that you and fellow atheists and agnostics are of a minority opinion. You have a right to your opinions of course, but I consider your views arrogant and misinformed.

#10 Why are people who do not believe in mythology and fairy tales, arrogant and misinformed?

Surely it is people like you who are arrogant, in that you attempt to have laws in place supporting your silly beliefs?

Religion is the opium of the masses, and a crutch for the weak-minded.
