A story about nothing whatsoever.

Harry Potter's date of birth?
This would make Harry Potter 27?

#1 ....... jealousy much Voltaire?

Whatever the merits (or demerits) of the Harry Potter books ....... JK Rowling has acheived something many of us only dream about ...... and got our kids reading again!

My lot have ordered their copies. Can't get just the one because all four of them want to read it first!

More power to Ms Rowling! Good to see a woman grabbing the limelight for all the right reasons!

#3 - I agree with you completely.
I've noticed that writers who pontificate loftily about how dreadful the books are offer nothing themselves.
It's pure professional jealousy - nothing else.

JK Rowling has that elusive magic that Lewis Carrol and Beatrix Potter had.

Poster #1 has obviously never read the books.
Typical of most of JK Rowlings detractors.
They remind me of the hordes shouting down 'Satanic Verses '- who had never even opened the book.

Agree with 3 & 4

The Harry Potter books are bestsellers for a reason .... they are a cracking story and J K Rowling is a great storyteller.

I am looking forward to reading No 7 in the series as much as my son is.....

The self styled 'literati' are jealous because they have never written anything so entertaining ..... and until they get their heads out of their collective rears ..... they are very unlikely to.

Agree with 3, 4, 5....the books are wonderfully entertaining, and it's great to see kids excited about reading anything.

#2- Yep, if Harry Potter were real, he'd be 27 next summer.

#1, try cracking the book before you criticize it man! I've read the books myself, but even if I hadn't, the simple fact that the story(s) have captured the attention of the world is proof that it must be about SOMETHING.

At no stage did I comment on the actual books.
The book has not even been completed and folks Like yourseves are buying it already.
That is just plain silly.
There will be no shortage of copies come publication date.

Paul #8, I will agree with you there. There will NOT be a shortage of books. Buying it on line pre release is just silly if you ask me.

Voltaire & co ...... pre-ordering the book means ensuring a copy as early as the publication date. You want to argue further about it, talk to a kid who's a big fan.

What age are you? 40-odd?? Write your own book if you know so much!
