The actual phrase "Beam Me Up, Scotty" is never spoken in the original "Star Trek" series. The closest Kirk has ever come to it is "Scotty, beam us up", which was spoken once.

Where does the Hootsmon get its info? Zachary Quinto (from U.S. television show "Heroes") was signed by Abrams back in July to play Spock. I know this and I'm not even a Trekkie.

Oh, I misread. Sorry, Hootsmon, my apologies. I see you wrote Shatner and Nimoy are to be in flash-forward scenes.

Nevermind.

#4. No ... unfortunately, that should read ... Ye cannae change the changeable laws o movie-makers!

The problem with the Star Trek franchise is this idiotic compulsion to "fill in the gaps" with prequels.

The TV series (Original, Next Gen, DS9, Voyager but not Enterprise) was at its best in going forward facing new challenges. This harking back to past is going to kill it off stone-dead.

And the reason "Nemesis" failed at the box-office was because of a lack of knowledge about the franchise by the writers and director! Plus some truly bad "science" at the heart of the movie.

And I am an avowed Trekkie!!

Scotty's shrunk 4 inches! Doohan 5'11", McAvoy 5'7".
