If it's ok for us to do it in Abu Grahb and Gitmo,
I suppose the Libyans just thought they might as well follow suit.
Oh yes... the example we set !!!
By 'us ' I assume you mean America. But this is a Scottish newspaper-don't involve us in your 'cruel and unusual punishments'
Isn't Scotland in New Jersey ???
OOPS !!!
#2--UriahHeep----not much different than the treatment in many of your prisons, i'm told!! can you say 'glass houses'??
#4 Sandy, I assure you, you were told wrong.
#1 - you nitwit - the Lybians were torturing people long before there was an Abu Grahb or a Gitmo.
#6 So you're saying America learned torture and how to operate Abu Graib & Guantanamo Bay from the Libyans? Is that the official position?
What I find interesting and worth debating is why Ghaddafi's son has made these statements which are tantamount to confessions of guilt. Is he trying to undermine daddy and his cronies? Is he looking for international support as a recommendable substitute for daddy? Is there a CIA supported coup d'état in preparation. Makes you wonder sometimes what's really going on behind the scenes.
#9 Dragonhead - You're telling us you were in Libya previously, famed for their disregard for human rights, lack of respect for the liberty and freedom of their citizens, absence of democracy, and their nasty penchant for torture?
So you went to China instead...?
#5--Jim A---then i do apologize....
Well said Jenny. Dragonhead you may well remember at the time we were paying Libya next to nothing for the oil and supposedly paying them aid money. When Gaddafi got to power he imediatly nationalised the oilfields and quadrupled their income overnight, much to the annoyance of the US and UK governments. We had been ripping the Libians off for yearsWith regards to torture, I dont consider any country to be innocent of this charge. Whether it be direct torture or rendition flights to do the same. I do not condone or agree with torture in any shape or form
#13 Sandy, thank you, apology accepted :-)
