I can't find a link for this, but try to read the 'Funny Old World' column in this week's Private Eye. Apparently Sheikh Ezzat Attiya, chair of the Department of Hadith at Al-Azhar university, said in a television programme, 'Men are breast-crazy beasts, so breastfeeding her male colleagues should give a woman a sense of safety and security when sharing her office with men.' [The Egyptian Gazette, 27/05/07.] There's much more in this vein. What's with Moslems that they can't treat women like ordinary human beings?
What a screwed-up country. This is the same country where police forced fleeing schoolgirls back into their burning school because they were not wearing the obligatory public attire ... long black cloaks and head covering ....... 15 girls died.
Islam is the world's MOST STUPID cult.
And this is the brand of Islam that is being funded by the Saudis in Western mosques and schools. Fascistic, reactionary, intolerant.
There's no governing framework more stupid than a religious bureaucracy.

I subscribe to the 'Eye and saw that. The men who issue these edicts are loopy.
So, if a female non-relative neighbour is having a heart attack, you just leave her there to croak? Idiots.
We all need to take notice and be vigilant to ensure that this type of lunacy does not ever happen here.
#8, The camel's nose is already under the tent. We already have creeping Sharia. Muslim cab drivers who don't want to take fares with alcohol or service dogs, Muslim clerks who won't ring up pork products, Muslim women suing to wear the niqab for their driver's license picture... We are already catering to radical Muslim sensibilities.
Wait! There's more!
There's a topic further on in this site which we can't comment upon> Here it is; fire away:-
Community leader on sex charge
A MUSLIM community leader appeared in court yesterday charged with carrying out a sex attack on a 14-year-old girl.
Farooq Hussain, 55, a restaurateur, appeared in private at Perth Sheriff Court in connection with the alleged offence at a flat in New Row, Pert
Now, before you all have a go at me, and yes, non-Muzzies conduct sex attacks, too, notice what this fells TITLE is!

Your comments are interesting. I, for my part, love baiting people who annoy me. A wee wifie of (probable) ME extraction bumped paying me on an ebay auction recently, and I have since then been bombarding her email inbox with pix of sausages, and links to web pages with pix of same. Shallow? yes, but I feel better for it.

She can't go near the 'links', now :-)
#9 add -A Qatar sheikh held up a British Airways flight at Milan's Linate airport for nearly three hours after discovering three of his female relatives had been seated next to men they did not know.

I agree with Conan. Just read Christopher Hitchen's book"God is Not Great" and his trenchant comments on Islam are proveable and show it for the stupid cult that it is.
Mohammed was illiterate, his "revelations" were dictated to a scribe, he was a notorious pedophile and bandit and yet about a billion people worship this phoney and his ridiculous sayings - saying that he said came directly from Allah/God. Rubbish.
Fundie Christians aren't much better. Their god didn't even have a sex-life according to the Bible.
Christianity, Judaism and Islam ... three great religions?? I hardly think so. But then, they want you to obey their edicts ... and not think for yourself at all!
Religion = balderdash!
"A NIGERIAN convert to Islam who took his sick neighbour to hospital has been jailed in Saudi Arabia because he was not related to the elderly woman.
Ibrahim Mohammad Lawal was convicted of immoral behaviour by religious police who enforce the state's strict code banning women from mixing with men other than relatives. "
This is a truly loathsome law from a loathsome religion and a loathsome country.
Wonder where Leon, from Hong Kong, is? He should be here by now, berating us for racism and Islamophobia.
what i cant understand is that the west is letting more and more of these people into their countries, and whilst those entering may live peacefully in time westerncountries will have this problem of religious police, it is inevitable. i especially cannot understand why women allow them in as they treat women worse than animals
#10 - why can't I use my own name???
As an older man of fifty-plus years, Muhammad (pbuh) married a mere child of six years old and co-habited with her when she was 9 years old.

Although I am strongly critical of islam in general and the Saudi variety in particular, in all fairness one should point out that the headline does not fit the report. According to the report the "offence" was not related to any medical emergency but to a subsequent visit. Such misleading headlines are highly unprofessional and are likely to give muslims the impression that the press is biased.
#21 The law he broke is stupid, evil and bollocks.
And if Muslims believe in that law, they are stupid and evil and bollocks to them too
Once more, this is a story that does not quite add up.
The headline is wrong. The man was not jailed for taking the woman to hospital. He was apparantly arrested for going to visit her subsequently to see if she was all right.
And how on earth did the police know that he had gone to visit her? It is difficult to imagine that they would have been sitting outside watching her appartment just to make sure that no men entered it.
15/ Re Qatar Shaikh story
This family has a very bad reputation for misbehaviour on aircraft and in hotels.
I am aware of an incident which occurred many years ago now where one of the female members of the family, travelling First Class on British Airways from London to Doha (Qatar) actually threw her plate containing her meal at a stewardess because she found the meal to be in some way not to her liking.
I am also aware that members of this family are banned from a number of 5 star London hotels.
I am suprised though that more was not done by BA to ensure that satisfactory seating arrangements were not made for this VIP party in advance of the incident, especially as their reputation for bad behaviour must be known to BA.

Dude ,Sounds like you have your head buried deep in a bucket of desert sand.
Our Idiot Pres Bush just approved the sale of $20 billion of military equipment to the despot Saudi's . He says they are our Allies.
Saudi pilots few the planes into the TT on 9/11 killing more than 3,000 civilians.
Mohammad had sex with a 9 year old girl his wife.
Saudi women are supressed and must wear the Hijab .
Saudi leaders visit London and spend millions on good looking prostitutes, booze and alcohol.
The Sharia is an ancient evil cult that see women are sex object, for breeding purposes and nothing else.
Why do we associate with these fanatics.....Oh its that Oil ...stuff.
Happy Saudi Day as they laugh at the West"

Apparently the religious police are loose in Oakland:
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID=D3CE1...
"The bakery briefly made national news in November 2005, when members attacked two Oakland liquor stores, smashing bottles and demanding that the owners stop selling liquor. This follows a pattern established by the Taliban and other Islamist movements which form religious police squads for the 'Suppression of Vice and the Promotion of Virtue.'”
Working in a private hotel, years ago,we had to be culturally sensitive, so the Halal instruction was enforced, beautiful fried bread in bacon fat.
27/ No problem for any Muslims who have eaten your halal bread fried in bacon fat ... your having lied to them absolves them of any responsibility in the eyes of God ...

I'd be grateful if you could explain to me how you *know* this headline is wrong. I have reread the article several times and still can't reach that conclusion.
From the article:"Lawal, an Islamic studies student in Riyadh, took his 63-year-old neighbour to hospital after discovering she needed medical attention. When she returned home he wanted to check on her progress and was admitted to her apartment where she was with three female relatives.
Five members of the force, the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, barged in and took him into custody, he said. "
So, "admitted to her apartment where she was with three female relatives"; how does this indicate that he was alone? Or even that this was what he was arrested for?
Isn't it possible that when he initially went to the hospital with his neighbour there were no 'religious police' available at the time to arrest him?
Isn't it possible that the 'religious police' subsequently either followed the woman home or were heading that way anyway when they saw him entering his neighbour's apartment?
From the article:""They accused me of being alone with the woman unrelated to me and suspected my intention," Lawal said."Why didn't he say he was being accused of 'being alone with three women'?
I agree that the journalistic style of the Hootsmon has degraded over the years and this article should have been clearer, but I would appreciate it if you could clarify your stance as to why the headline is wrong.
I will be the first to admit that I am no expert on Islamic culture and religious values but if this article is correct then I feel that, given the circumstances, the reaction of the 'religious police' is a bit over-zealous in this instance.

Here is some of the original article from Arab News. (Google is wonderful). I can see no evidence here for the implication in the Scotsman headline that it was helping the woman to hospital that was the offence, rather than the subsequent visit, and the so-called "illegal state of seclusion" rather implies that it was the visit to a private home which was the cause of the offence. However it is not possible to exclude the idea that it was the hospital visit which put the religious police onto the case.
In either case, the mindset behind this thinking is totally alien to most in the West. However, there is a distinction between being punished for a humanitarian act and being punished for breaking legally-enforced ideas of segregation of males and females.
Nigerian Lands in Jail for Helping 60-Year-Old Woman in RiyadhArab News
RIYADH, 6 August 2007 — A new convert to Islam, fired with zeal to do a righteous act, had no idea that he would pay a heavy price for helping a sick woman, one that has landed him 50 days and counting behind bars.
The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice found him guilty for committing a crime: Being in the presence of a woman who is not a relative (a so-called “illegal state of seclusion”).
Arab News tried several times to contact Ahmed Al-Jardan, spokesman for the commission, but phone calls were not returned. A written fax ... was also ignored.
Ibrahim Mohammed Lawal, a Nigerian student of Islamic studies at Badiya Islamic Center in Riyadh, learned that his neighbor, a 63-year-old woman, was indisposed and needed medical attention. So he took her to various hospitals in Riyadh, ..., all of which refused to treat her. It was only after the intervention of (the) director of Badiya Islamic Center, that the Badiya Hospital admitted the case. Despite the charitable act Mohammed ended up in detention, accused of immoral behavior because he wa
