We cannot avoid progress. There are too many NIMBYS.

"Nimbys" from someone in Derbyshire !!!!!!!
If wind was the answer we would still be crossing the Atlantic in sailing ships.
# 3 needs to realise that wind turbines are about one thing only - making money at our expense.
Does he also realise that the Highlands of Scotland have been 100% renewable with hydro power for over 50 years.
If he likes wind turbines so much he can have them in Derbyshire - they don't serve any useful purpose up here.

Maybe so, #2, and most of them live in England where the generated energy will be used. FYI, Scotland is a considerable net exporter of electricity, and has a substantial contribution from renewables, mostly hydro.

Since you clearly do not like NIMBYs, I assume you are actively campaigning to have a forest of 460m high wind turbines erected in the Peak District and other scenic areas in N England to supply the energy you currently get from N of the border.

I will just keep saying it until someone involved reads this.

Place wind turbines on Lamposts all over the motorway. They could house as many as you like and they are highly accesible for maintenance. They are already connected to the grid. No-one can justifiably complain that they make an eyesore.

That should of course have been 460ft - 140m at #4.

"SWAG argues that the council did not properly apply European laws on protecting the environment."

In which case it is open for them to make a formal complaint to the European Commission. The form for so doing can be found at:

(5) Turkey... why stop there? Why just put turbines on lampposts, put them on every roof... why not ignore the cost/benefit, investment/return required to make these things attractive... why not ignore all the other ills (noise, estethics etc.)... all just so that some people will profit from this rather inefficient way of generating power. Wind energy is just that a passing fad...

Ligh/Solar energy is much easier to obtain (with new technology converting as much as 50% of light into electrical energy)... or wave/tidal energy are much better solutions

Go Nuclear - it the only logical choice out there.
