No mention of joke and his defeated labour numpties behaving like childish morons . Everyone applauded wee ecks speech except labour msp,s, who must have planned such a silly gesture before hand.
They really are a pathetic bunch of LOSERS.

That was an excellent speech by First Minister Alex Salmond !

Yes it was an excellent speech.

The SNP detractors must be choked, as the First minister sounds better all the time.

Congratulations to all that worked for the SNP victory. Our first minister is doing us proud.

All the best.

@ #4: Grow up 'Jean Brodie'. The Queen made a very fine speech and one which was entirely appropriate.

The speeches by Salmond, Her Majesty and the Presiding Officer were fine, although Salmond couldn't resist squeezing in a reference to independence. Fair enough I suppose.

Yes, it pains me to say so, but the SNP are behaving with dignity unlike the Labour MSPs who are coming across as rather childish recently.

What a really fine speech from the Queen, it appears she and Alex have really hit it off, big time. Or is it just that she can plainly see what labour cannot

There are some aspects of the SNP and Alex Salmond I could disagree with them on but, there is much more as a proud life long devoted republican; I do support them.
Having a few doubts in my mind as to their total devotion and aspirations for the beautiful native land I dearly love, I feel duty bound like most native Scots world - wide to pledge my support. No matter where we Scopts traverse on mother Earth we never turn our backs and forget the land off our birth. The Queen' speech which normally I totally ignore as purely symbolic had much to recommend,
as it appeared to hint, that the goal of complete
Independence, is not so far fetched as its opponents and enemies would desire it to be;and has at long last become a genuine reality.
True loving Scots have no wish whatsoever to build a free, totally secular Independent Scotland on
the basis of hatred and division. It will one day return to its rightful status, as enjoyed before losing its former nationhood and Independence without the consent of its people; who were totally and arrogantly ignored. We only seek what New Labour
has spent Billions of £s on with the needless killing of so many of our young UK service personnel, and many innocent civilians with supposedly giving to other countries their freedom, democracy and self-determination..
For 10 long years the UK has been conned on the whole by political careerists who would sell their own
grannies to make a fast buck. On the way with their mad rush too seek glory and power; they have continually lied and squandered billions of taxpayers
hard-earned cash. They have attempted to govern the UK by the most amateurish bunch of politicians
ever, during the UKs recent history.
Surely the time has come to clear these impostors out, once and for all; especially the main architect Brown, the principal defaulter off the debacle he is
held largely responsible for.
Let us waste no more time before the

What numpties the first 3 comment makers are. First of all, wee eck insults HM by pointing out that he is SNP, then points to the fact that they are, once again, wearing white roses; then has to bring in the Iraq war. Has he nothing else to talk about? What is he and those prostitutes of politics the Lib Dems going to talk about when that war is ended? already thay are desperately trying to tie in anyone in Labour now that Tony Blair is gone. As for Wattie!!! some one needs to tell him that to get his point accross he needs to be brief...and to the point!!

For goodness sake you NATS you are getting carried away with yourself. I remember that not so long ago many NATS would not go near or have anything to do with the opening of the Scottish Parliament which is in essence an extension of Westmisnister and the hated unionism. of the British state. My h ow things have changed as the nationalist strive to gain respectibility among the establishment. Where have all the radical dreams of an independent republic gone as Salmond fawns to his Queen? Lets face it the SNP, as I predicted , in gaining power, is now being sucked into the status quo and becoming just another political party. . Today we seen another step towards this. A bourgeois national party in the interests of capitalism! So much for a radical change! The left within the party must make their voices heard before its too late.

Kranal (#10) says Tony Blair has gone. No he has NOT. No more than Hess, Mengele or Eichmann 'went'.

War crimes must be persued until justice is won for the innocents.

Tony Blair will not be gone for a long, long time.

No. 16, Stephen 101.
you are the biggest numptie of the lot. As reality sets in with you Nats, ie the trappings of power and the megalomania of wee eckie, you are becoming even more bitter at not getting an absolute majority even within a coalition. Why not accept it; as we who are a wee bit more savvy have accepted, wee eck will DESTROY the nats becuase of his megalomania; hence his sooking up to the Royal Family.

Angus Lindsay,

Since taking office, as far as is evident to me, Alex Salmond has behaved like the intelligent person and consummate statesman that he is. That is a position the Labour sour-grapes squad on here are quite unfamiliar with but need to learn to live with, and learn from. McConnell and his surly, ungracious camp followers were and are a disgrace to Scotland.

#10 & 20. Kranal
Your posts pretty well sum up the mentality of the bad loser. You just don't get it, do you? Salmond, is five minutes into the job and doing rather well. Your brand of ignorant negativity will do nothing to change that, glad to say. Talking of which, where is your arch-spokesman, AM2?

I couldn't resist the temptation:
YOU are the biggest numptie of the lot.

As reality sets in with you Bliarites, ie losing the trappings of power and the megalomania of the Great Leader, you are becoming even more bitter at not getting an absolute majority even within a coalition. Why not accept it; as we who are a wee bit more savvy have accepted, Union Joke will DESTROY his own party because of his spineless incompetence; hence his sooking up to the Royal Family.

I am amused how half the republican commentators imply that the Queen is well fed and the rest of us are starving. Grow up, stop trying to be a revolutionary, recognise the state of modern scotland which helps the poor and is wealthier than ever. I thought the parliament opening was great, good speeches, good ceremonial. However I would like the Riding to be a bit more spectacular e.g. the Scottish military with pipes and drums, the Queen in a carriage, the scottish rugby team etc etc. She should wear the Crown as well, or what is the point of it?

27

roboypg4,

Vancouver 05/01/2008 17:28:34
How come the Parliament of Scotland needs an English Queen to ceremonial open it...Cant we do that on our own? After all we have a very good First Minister.

Scotland will never grow up! We need our English queen to reassure us. God pity us.
