Let's hope that other museums follow Glasgow's example, and return all stolen property and artefacts to their rightful owners.
Good for Glasgow. Would that other museums did the same!!!
Editors, I'm getting just a wee bit annoyed at the constant attacks on Guga by certain posters such as #2! It's turning into an epidemec and it is wrong because it as a deeply personal affront ... you're first guideline below "Add Your Comment" is not being adhered to. You edit others whose posts are not offensive, but you let the anti-Guga posts through?? Please end this now. I am very offended by the constancy of these "personal comments!"
#3 Agreed, these posts are infantile and puerile.
Got to agree Boy Wonder, they don't do much.
Back to the story, there isn't a hope in hell the museums in London are going to follow suit. But, constant pressure is the way to go.
Perhaps #2 resorts to insult because he really hasn't got anything worth saying.
Nice to see a museum take responsibility.
That's the second time Robert Bruce and skulls have been in the news this week!
Well done Glasgow museum,They were not the museums to keep just to store until there countrymen of today claimed them.
If the world's museums gave back everything that had been robbed or stolen, there'd be little left.
I think Guga, as a veteran of the Scotsman's comment scene, is big enough and bad enough to look after himself. If he wants to report abuse, let him, otherwise ignore it.
Just another example of how the empire became "great Britain" Treachory and theft."In those days, museums were seen as having two purposes: one was to display the bounty of the British Empire, the other was to create an archive for study and research." The only study would have been how to steal more land
This country has had many Maori objects returned to it and is still asking museums to return things taken in the past. Seems many Egyptian and other articles were taken to Britain in the past and should be returned.
