When I was at school you weren't allowed out at lunchtime to buy junk food. You either ate a school meal, brought a packed lunch or went home. You'd have got into serious bother if you'd been seen in a fast food or takeaway shop. Maybe we need to go back to the good old days and stop kids eating rubbish.

All I can say is Free School Meals for every child.

School meals. That'll give me nightmares. I still remember that purple custard stuff. Or the apricot sponge. A teacher once made me actually eat it. Then there were the stewed prunes, sometimes *in* the purple stuff. In the end my great grandad took pity on me and cooked my lunch every schoolday.

Now though you can't get served in Greggs within a lunch break because of all the schoolkids. If that's what they want, why not just give Greggs the franchise to cook in schools and clear the food retailers for those of us who work for a living?
