How was she able to get matches onto a plane - are they not banned items?

[3] No they're not, at least in the report I read yesterday.

Apparently passengers in the US are allowed up to 4 books of matches [on a plane]. Quite how this number is arrived at is beyond comprehension. Do the US authorities consider it takes at least 5 books of matches to ignite something that will endanger the airframe?

Totally ridiculous. But then a country that operates on beliefs rather than facts loses the power to surprise after a while.

'the scent of fatulence'? The Scotsman's literary skills are alive and well!

Reminds me of a time when I was on a flight to Milan, and was seated next to an annoying Chinese woman wearing a surgical mask. I made sure to drop one right in her face when I was taking my seat.

If only the flatulence could be harnessed for fuel!!
