At least a cigarette end can be picked/swept up (not that I approve of such littering) but not so chewing gum which bespeckles every paving slab in the land!
One for the politiciansYes let’s ban it; we could always have some new laws past. Oppress the people, exploit the people, give everyone a dog’s life and raise the taxes.
Or you could get a life seek some help, you may get rid of some of that hate.
Deadly weed?
I suppose it is. It killed off Fulla Nayan just last week. She died at 125 years of age. I've looked, and I cannot find a non smoker that lived that long.
To get back on topic, does anyone else find it passing strange that no one is fining the government for dumping their nuclear waste which has a half life of 400,000 years?
Lets chase the fag end droppers instead. They are easier to catch.
Stop littering, and we all save on our council tax. Why should anyone else have to pay for one person's laziness? I'm glad they are cracking down on this - some people really behave like spoilt children.
As always the anti everything brigade is missing the point. The Executive created the problem by pandering to the health freaks who listened to the anti smoking zealots like Ms Moore of ASH. This organisation lied to the Scottish Parliament as did Cancer research UK, not to mention the British Heart Foundation. Passive Smoking has never been a serious health risk and numbers of smokers were falling. However due to the ban they are rising. Some clever politician should explain that. Had there not been a ban then smokers wouldn't be outside. I do not approve of littering , however I approve of anti democratic legislation less. www.freedom2choose.co.uk
My last word should have been MORE, not LESS
Duncan – We would also save on council tax if we just picked up the litter instead of trying to find out who dropped each fag end, regardless of the other rubbish that's dropped.
Littering is not helped by employers who removed cigarette stubbing out bins. Some even had pathetic, staged. "we're smokefree" ceremonies where they burned the bins, at the start of the smoking ban.
The removal of bins is just another strategy to ban smoking everywhere by these numpties whose sole strategy in government seems to be "right, let's ban it then"
Maybe there was a "ban the bin" bit of legislation I missed or is that to come to save the costs of emptying them? :-)
Now there's the problem, we need more bins. Not people who cost the tax payers money, smoke police and cctv. come around our estate and look for the ones who do not pay anything to the goverment and see the black bags that sit there for a week or more.Good grief, and the mess they must leave behind with all those bombs they drop on people. Nope lets worry about those dog ends, so much more important. If this vendetta against the smokers carry on, Maureen Moore needs to eat more carrots, if she cannot see what hate is being created.I am going to a funeral this week of a 28 year old, not smoking related by the way, maybe drug related. So if I sound angry , that is because I am.Get more bins, it is getting pathetic.
