I think this same style dialogue would have taken place in 1940 America regarding the Japanese and Germans, had there been message boards. Stoning the Iranian way

According to Amnesty International, Article 104 of the Iranian penal code states, with reference to the penalty for adultery: ...the stones should not be too large so that the person dies on being hit by one or two of them; they should not be so small either that they could not be defined as stones. Amnesty argues that this is clear evidence that "the punishment of stoning is designed to cause the victim grievous pain before death".

In Iran, the convicted person to be killed is wrapped in a sheet and buried; male convicts are buried from the waist down, female convicts are buried deeper to prevent the breasts from becoming exposed. .

Your reference to hanging is for common criminals the case being a multiple rapist and murderer, he was lashed 100 times before being strangled slowly by the noose. Once again in front of a baying crowd.
