It is totally wrong to say that 70% of the population lives on less than $2 a day. Most of the population are subsistence farmers and live off what they produce. The $2 a day is surplus to what they need to live on.

In many parts of the world, subsistence farmers have been driven off the land and have to work in factories. They then get starvation wages. Starvation wages may come to a lot more than $2 a day, but the people are much poorer because what they earn is not surplus, it is all they have to live on.

No doubt the Americans and the CIA will re-activate their dirty war tricks in Nicararagua again.

American governments are great believers in democracy, as long as it is one which they can buy, and which will do what they tell it.

Because USA is an empire, not a democratic republic... it just looks democratic.

I agree - the USA should leave the rest of the world alone - it should stop sending billions of dollars overseas to Africa & Europe. It should stop sending millions of tons of food to the third world countries. It should stop fighting wars that are not on it's own home soil - no other country needs it help. It should completely concentrate on its own citizens and not give a care for the rest. However, it the USA did that - minded its own business, the rest of the world would then be saying how unsympathetic and self serving the USA is. There is no pleasing everyone.

Oh, and maybe the USA should pull its troops out of Pakistan were it has been helping the earthquake victims and all the other countries that have suffered terribly from natural disasters - the USA should take care of it's own natural disaster sites such as Hurrican Kartrinas brutal hit. Nobody needs the USA's help.
