They also have a beautiful grass roof which the local gulls, which were evicted from the top of the old bus depot, will surely appreciate in months to come!

Solar panels, recycling rain water the building materials from sustainable sources including local stone and timber. It sounds a lot better than that money pit called The Scottish Parliament.

I happened to have a council employee/official at my house during the summer and we spoke at length about the new offices as I pass them every day when I go to work at the Waverley. He didn't seem too convinced it would work as there isn't enough office space, no A/C but a 'cold beam' that is meant to keep the heavily glazed offices cool in the summer and he had other concerns regarding the 'green'claims that the building is supposed to have. This was from someone that works in the planning department, someone who is meant to know his stuff when it comes to buildings!

Some spurious characters got added to that link. Right-click the link and paste it into your browser and backspace so it ends in .htm

This "environmentally friendly " building has no fewer than 675 car parking spaces. Some people clearly have no intention of getting to work the green way.
How long before council approved vehicles are allowed to use the bus lanes and special traffic arrangements are in place for transporting our pygmy politicos around.
A monument to hypocrisy.

The car park spaces are not for the council staff. They will be public spaces for the rail car park to make up for the spaces lost from the old car park.
