It is absolutely wrong when a big company is doing financially well, the competitors are after them like anything. I am sure a company like Tesco has checked all compliance issues before placing any kind of order to any factory. Without any proof how can media come up with such allegations??? Also, I personally do not think a big giant like TESCO would not put themselves in a situation like this knowlingly very well that their image could be at stake! My best wishes to TESCO!! Keep on growing!!!!!!!! Dont worry about such allegations..... we, the customers, are behind you for your ranges of products always with an affordable price.. God Bless Tesco!
You have shares in Tesco Asif or are you an employee brown nosing for promotion. I can just see you at work - "Oh look Mr Manager Sir, this is my comment on the piece critising our great company". Companies like Tesco will do anything to increase their profit margins. Bankrupting local farmers & small businesses is all in a days work for Tesco so why would they worry about how much human misery they cause elsewhere in the world.
Perhaps if you had read the article properly :
"A spokesman for the broadcaster said: "At both Harvest Rich factories, Channel 4 News secretly filmed child workers. Undercover footage shows these workers making men's trousers for Tesco's Florence and Fred range. The Tesco label showing a UK retail price of £6 can clearly be seen"
Is this not proof sycophant?
When you see jeans available in Resco at £3 a pair, and shirts for £5, then it's no surprise that Tesco exploit cheap labour wherever they can. It's not that Testco WANT to do it, it's because that's what the cunsumer is demanding - cheaper and better clothes - and the only way Tesco can meet this demand is to go to places like Bangladesh where labour is cheap. The fact that there may be 13 years old in the factories is not Teco's fault - it's the culture and employment rules of Bangladesh. Just because our laws don't allow gies us no right to condemn the practices of other nations.

The article also said.A spokesman for Tesco said : "Tesco abhor the use of child labour and are at the forefront of industry efforts to stamp it out. On receipt of these allegations Tesco immediately made unannounced visits to the suppliers with independent auditors. They found no evidence of any use of child labour."
So secret filming, well we all know that means it could have been filmed anywhere not necessary in the factories they say it was filmed in.As for a label being shown it is not at all possible that the makers of the documentary put these labels on the items to prove their point.Scratch that last bit as we all know media/documentary types would never do such a thing don't we.
Jock #2 obviously stopped reading the article immediately after the words he quoted. In case he didn't have the full article the next 2 sentences read as follows:-
"At both the Evince Group factories, the news team filmed children who appeared to be aged under 15 working on Florence and Fred shirts.
When Channel 4 News contacted Harvest Rich and Evince, they both denied using any child labour."
Where's the proof in that?
i'm not advocating forced child labour, but if these kids want to work, and can earn money for their families, do you want to take that opportunity away from them ?
it's a different country, a different culture, but in principal, what's the difference between this and doing a paper round ?
Now we don't have chimneys, I'm glad to see children doing something useful.
Many of these children need to work to earn money and in areas like that the only choices they have are working manufacturing clothes or prostitutuion - I know what I'd rather do!
I saw the footage on channel 4 on Tuesday, even though i am not an technical expert, but I could clearly see the video looked very dodgy.. very fake and very badly shot!
Because of Tesco, thousands of workers across the world is getting jobs especially a developing country like Bangladesh where they can only survive on responsible organizations to help them to grow.. these allegations are from those who are very short-sighted and cannot see that the company is not only giving jobs but giving tthe workers an option other than prostitution!
Every Little Helps! Thank you Tesco.
HEY JOCK IF YOU BOTHERED TO READ THE ARTICAL YOU MAY HAVE COME ACROSS THE FOLLOWING COMMENT
"The TV report stressed there was no suggestion that Tesco was aware child labour was being used by suppliers."
Just to add something from your comment "Is this not proof sycophant" I assume you dont shop with TESCO at all????
