They would gain a lot more credibility if they dropped the lesbian feminist labels, neither of which have anything to do with the core objective of the cause, that of nuclear disarmament.

Wait until the GAY MASCULINISTS get involved! Hand bags at dawn............

Watching footage of executions in China on Sky news this morning, I can't help but feel grateful that our freedom to protest at all has been protected down the years by the very weapons that these women have spent their rather unproductive lives against. I wonder if Quin is still signing on in Berkshire?

6

Dave,

Western Isles 05/10/2006 07:38:29

I'm just thinking. Will the Lesbian Feminists and Gay Masculinists save our asses (oo-er) when or if it comes to the crunch? Would they have Handbag tipped war heads on their missiles? Or what?

By the way I'm not an anti-gay/lesbian or any type of anti human but I am a human being also and don't feel the need to label myself.

When will the Hetrosexuals protest then?

HETROSEXUAL FEMINISTS/MASCULINISTS SAY AYE TO TRIDENT AND NO TO HANDBAGS AT DAWN

maestra,

Out of the whole article, the most salient thing for posters 2 and 6 was the lesbian feminists? Sigh...

8

Dave,

Western Isles 05/10/2006 08:12:45

And? What did you get out of it? Not much really.

9

Dave,

Western Isles 05/10/2006 08:20:25

Adendum to 8. Not much really other than you are trying to stifle the freedom of speech.

If we so choose to talk about one salient point regarding the article, whatever it may be, then we should be allowed to do so without the nanny telling us to be wheeshed such as yourself.

If you have a problem with that, exercise your freedom of speech by giving us a constructive argument why we should not focus on any particular area of the aforementioned article. If you are unable to do so, then remain neutral.

The point that both myself and colin were trying to make was why do these militant lesbians have to label themselves in order to make a point? Whta is wrong with being a human being of non descript sexuality? Whta would be the reaction if hetrosexuals took a similar stand? Get it now? As for the actual trident argument, that's a moot point in my books and has long been discussed in this country.

Lesbian feminists? who cares.....oops some of the above do. You know what I love them for their strength in their beliefs, their determination and refusal to back down. There are some of us who do not want nuclear weapons here (apart from Brian who has nightmares of execution) and thankfully there are some of us who have the tits to protest about it.

11

Meep,

05/10/2006 09:21:51

Given that nuclear arms have saved millions of lives by effectively putting an end to conventional warfare in Europe, I don't understand why the Greenham women are so against Trident. I suppose it's characteristic of a certain group of people who would rather live in squalor and chaos just to prove an esoteric point.

12

Dave,

Western Isles 05/10/2006 09:21:53

Do you have the tits Doreen?

13

Allan,

How do these people support themselves, perhaps the DSS should do a check, and prosecute any they find on benifits, as they're obviously not actively seeking work. The only good thing about it is it's cutting down the numbers in the rent-a -mob on the foriegn scrounger removals at dawn protests.

14

EG,

Maybe headline should read "bunch of tits protest at Faslane"

Stop their benefits. They should be working not wasting everyones time with these futile protests. Who in their right mind would listen to anything these nutters say.

Oh me too, me too. Mad as hatters, totally naive, political neantherdals and completely up themselves, but ever so strong.

21

sandman,

Neantherdals of course are the less intelligent cousins of the better-known neanderthals.

Strong is right! Forearms like Popeye and just as hairy (assuming popeye was hairy under his cartoon clotes!)

Protest all you like my girls - but what about ma clean shirts and ma tea?

25

Caroline,

05/10/2006 16:58:25

I was there over the past few days- I didnt see a banner with Lesbian Feminist on it , not that its an issue but the writer of the article has obviously thrown that in to spice the article up and by the looks of it it obviously ruffled a few readers given their focus on protesters being lesbian feminists rather than non violent peace protestors. As for being on the dole and not looking for work some readers obviously dont get the jist that regardless of employment status all sorts of people are anti trident protestors. I work hard claim no benefits and I am an anti trident non violent peace protestor.

26

Doreen,

Glasgow 05/10/2006 18:55:56

Sandy sweetheart you must know each and every one of these women personally because you are very opinionated against them. They decided to stay and register their protest permanently so they are 'up themselves'? really, neanderthals? because they probably do not fit in with your policies or views on how women should behave they are totally
naive,, this is interesting. Even better 'mad as hatters' but then people like you have been saying this about women with strong politic beliefs and opinions for centuries....even other women. Look at what the suffragettes had to endure for example.
And David, really.....resorting to sexist stereotyping, is that the best you can come up with. Perhaps if they were all teenage barbie dolls Davey boy you might have had a positive comment to say about them.

So now that they've "sorted out" the nuclear situation in Britain, will they all be decamping to North Korea and Iran?

Yeah if they were sexy, lingerie wearing, curvacious women I might take notice. Sexual steroetyping is what people do, hence the banner LESBIAN FEMINISTS. They steroetyped themselves to make a point. I refer you to my earlier comments about WHY they ahve to label themselves. There is no logical reason. If you want to remove sexual stereotyping remove words like LESBIAN and FEMINISTS and replace with PEOPLE.

'LESBIAN Feminists Say No To Trident," "We're Not Having It!," "Stating the Bleeding Obvious Again!" shout the banners hanging on the solemn grey fence surrounding Faslane, Britain's nuclear submarine base on the shores of Gare Loch. Alongside it a group of women are drinking coffee, waving occasionally at a Ministry of Defence policeman who is video recording their al fresco tea party.

Did madam know there is a similar group called the GAY who want all of the lots..? Of the party? They want to go to moon for honeymoons I am told just after the lady went to space they are trying to win.

Take heart laddies, there are still those of us out here who are not uncomfortable being real women. I have curves, I like to cook, I keep a tidy house and I even shave my arm pits. Furthermore, I believe it is a woman's highest honor to care for her man and children. If my wayward male-wannabe sisters want to hole up in squalor to make a nebulous point...better they stay out of my way. Barbies arise!!!!
