You mean he didn't have a liquid bomb? Funny that.

Obviously it was his lipstick that did the trick. I have always thought that airport security was lax. I mean, banning eye liner is all very well, but.....Oh, no! Horrible thought. He didn't have a toothbrush by any chance??????

And people wonder why I don't travel.......They are checking to see if someone carries on tooth paste and neglecting to check passenger manifests and the cargo holds under the planes.

Advice: Avoid Turkish Airlines especially flights from Tirana, Albania - their security stinks. Makes you wonder about other airlines as well!

This shows, again, the inefficiency of airport security.
Until full checks, profiling, baggage and personal search are done BEFORE check in, then this kind of thing will continue.
Airlines should have full passenger selection rights; they should be able to bar people without giving a reason - just like pub landlords.

Why open the cockpit door to enquire if the pilot wants coffee? why not just use the intercom?

It doesn't matter who carries what onto an aircraft, it is the purpose of that person which matters.

Until there is a brain scanner which can determine the intentions of the passenger, total safety cannot be assured, but any unarmed person will only cause disruption not death.

Don't single out Tirana. I flew out of Manchester last week with a plain bottle of cologne deliberately, and 2 cigarette lighters by accident in my hand luggage. Went through control barefoot (shoes were x-rayed) and holding up my jeans by hand (belt was removed for x-ray). Had to leave my bottle of water, Monarch airline sold me some @ £3.00/ltr.

I think you all did not read this article closely. The hijacker wnet through a very thorough security screening, he did not have any weapons. It is clearly the security on board the plane which is lacking.
