With light pollution as it is one can only see a handfull of stars and planets from most areas. Such a shame that a free spectacle as the night sky is almost lost to us! At least the plant debate has perhaps caused a few more people to cast their eyes upwards, or perhaps googled 'hubble' for a few images!

Or even 'planet' debate! ;)

Things are catagorized for the sake of easy understanding. The simplist thing to do is to reclassify Pluto as a Kuyper Belt object. Therefore there are only eight planets; all other discoveries beyond are called KBO's. And Ceres remains an astroid.

There has been 9 planets for years!

Why are they affraid of inflationary planet counts?

Seriously though....

Light polution in the UK is pretty low compared to most of the EU, with the main problem in Scotland falling in the central belt.

Before that the Sun obited around the Earth.

So do you believe when new information is "Discovered" we should continue to call them heratics and burn them alive?

Text books always change, and should, to reflect the current understanding of the subjects.

We can't be afraid of changes in our knowledge of history. Just think if we had been, we would still think the Earth is flat. Change is inevitable, accept it and embrace it. We will just have to revise our current "planet" models our children have done for science projects and move on!

I have seen that time is a great discoverer in history and joegraphy, not only a great healer in medicine. With time we shall with the help of new generation of astronomers ,know how many planets we have , for now there are still uncertainty , because if pluto should be disqualified by some professionals , it then means there are a lot of lies about astronomy , that is why when some astrologist and astronomers forcast , it does not always come true.Though some come true

I have seen all the matter and i say that it will be wrong if Pluto is not included in the Planet because if you are discovering new planets year by year and if you find much bigger planet than Jupiter and Earth, it means that you will change whole meaning of Planet. Changing History is very risky task, so be aware making any decision and maybe it will effect in near future in solar world.

The only thing that is permanent in life is change,if pluto in the real sense does not meet up with what to be refers to as planet, fine. This means our children has to be re taught of the composition of planets. I do not think there is crime in reclassifications of planets if only it has been done in good faith.
