Surely the best solution would be to just batter the litter louts who make the place untidy?

Wouldn't it be better if people just stopped throwing litter away? Not a huge fan of McDonalds but they have had to spend moeny re-desinging and producing these new lids so that hedgehogs are safe, when really, McFlurry lids shouldn't be lying about the ground where animals can crawl into them in the first place.

Very simple & common sense really. Once we are finished our ice cream, throw it in the bin. That way hedgehogs look for food else where, we enjoy our ice creams and McDonalds will not have to spend millions on new designs.

Hedgehogs will also be able to crawl into containers on landfill sites.

Very sad that the little hedgehogs die in this way as a result of human carelessness. People just don't think when they discard their rubbish, they would rather dump it than carry it to the nearest bin.

Very good outcome for the hedgehogs and the people who are backing them! Well Done!

MacDonalds encourages obesity, and got the UK's botty spanked by a European Court for abusing human rights.

The part of the case that keeps going through my mind was where McDs were selling burgers from an outlet over a brust sewer that was filling the room the burgers were kept in with......

"Would you like extra faeces with that?"

PETE - YOU DONT HAVE THE MENTALITY MATE TO SHOW ANY KIND OF RESPECT FOR ANYTHING OR ANYONE - AND YES THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WHO DO GIVE A F**K ABOUT HEDGEHOGS AND ANIMALS IN GENERAL - IT'S PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT THEY PROBABLY DONT GIVE A F**K ABOUT!

Simple - 5p deposit on the container.

Then even if it was dropped, someone would pick it up.

I can appreciate their efforts to preserve wildlife. Whether it was demanded or decided by the company themselves.
