Perhaps Andy Kerr should visit those areas of Glasgow where 60% of the people smoke.

Come on Andy, get down there and tell those fine people whats good for them.

Eve,

Glasgow 23/08/2006 13:24:48

It's worth remebering on avearge it take a smoker 7 time of trying to quite to give up for good.
The ban has't been law long engought, to alow for that much of suport to be given.

This bans the best thing the Scottish Parlement hs done.

steve 3/eve4/small minded little labour clones.Kerr would,nt have the balls to come to any glasgow housing scheme even if your figures are correct.

Eve @4
Try telling all the people who have really been hit by this ban that it is the best thing the Scotish parliament has done.

Try telling that to the Morrison's supermarket workers who were sacked. Or, how about elderly people in care homes forced outside for a smoke just to please a few intolerant antismokers.

Get real, this is the most draconian piece of nonsense ever foisted on Scotland. Let's see how popular it is this time next year after the winter.

As for Kerr and these silly "targets" how can they measure with such great accuracy the number of smokers anyway? and why 22%? not 21% or 23%?

The only work that needs to be done is to encourage these failled village idiots to "quit" parliament and leave people alone.

And maybe someone will give a thought as what is instore for the elderly - Remember them-did they get a voice.

But this is my house

Come on old chap, we will go for a walk,
I'll push you outside in your chair,
It's cold, but it's calm,it will do you no harm.
I know, I KNOW it's not fair.

Now put on your coat, your gloves, scarf and cap,
the workmen are coming at four,
Your pipe, I will light, when the distance is right,
Yes!! that's twenty five feet from your door.

Iain of Inverness, try telling the man in the hospital bed dying of lung cancer that drivel!

I'd ban smoking everywhere, inside and out - if you want to inhale and exhale poison go lock yourself in a cupboard and don't do it in my space.

#5. alan: Your so Wrong about me,
Labour, EH (I'm a No Unionist)
I'm No fan of Kerr (He's a rubbish MSP Like the other Labour MP's & MSP ect in Larnkshire). I'm a fan of the Smoking Ban and Improving the Health of Scots.

I'm not small mined that figure came from a Health Promotion Book, which I read. And I'm right it is too early too prove sucess or Faluire.

6. Iain: I've Never Smoked in my life Do you think it's right for someone like me too have too put up with other people's smoke.

MOST PEOPLE IN SCOTLAND DON'T SMOKE SO IT'S THE BEST THING THE SCOTTISH PARLEMENT HAS DONE.

I understand it's a habbit, but I don't want to inhale it, it makes me feel ill AND My cloths and hair stink.

11

claire,

25/08/2006 11:10:23

The thing is eve, a quarter of the population smoke and I think you will find that if you wash your clothes and hair they won't stink! what are you moaning about anyway? there is no smoking in pubs anymore! honestly there's no pleasing some!!! I bet youve saved a packet on washing powder! BO could be a problem though!

Angel (9), Since when did a pub that someone else owns become "Your" space?

Eve (9), How do you see a smoking ban in pubs improving health?

Eve (10), What does it matter that most of the people in scotland don't smoke? Most don't go parachuting either, should we ban that?

You seem to be suffering from the anti smoking illusion that you have a human right to entertainment in someone else's pub. If you don't want to wash your smelly clothes after a night out, then don't go out.
