Of course he is Bush's poodle.

Can anyone tell me whether the UK can have a foreign policy without the US? It seems to me that anything we do is only either at the behest of the US or in the knowledge that they will support us. It's pathetic.

Isn't it sad. We suffered under Thatcher's bond with Reagan...

I'm British but at the moment I live in the states. I am constantly appalled at the average US citizens understaning of their government and its policies. The t.v is pure propaganda.

It saddens me that Blair is Bush's sychophant. I thought more of him, when he first came to leadership.

Cherie Blair also knows that her husband is a poodle of dubya George.

Please do not think that all Americans are idiots. In fact most people you would talk to in California would say that Bush was a flaming idiot. In fact I was extremely disappointed when Tony Blair came out and supported George the Idiot in his little adventure in Iraq. Hey, it was Britian who was there in the 50's and ended up leaving. Blair should have spoken strongly to George the Idiot and none of us would have been there. It still leaves me scratching my head a little bit wondering why he did not. Either Blair is not as smart as I give him credit for (but he does speak far more eloquently than George) or Blair was worried that Britian would not reap some of the oil gains.

Also just because I indicate that Blair could have prevented this mess, do not think I do not know what country is responsible for it. We have lost our rudder.

John,

Britain invests the most in the USa than it invests anywhere in the world. When broken down, England more so than Scotland. Scotland trades more with EU than USA.

I think in British terms, they are putting the mouths where their money is.

The USA has had economic turmoil since Bush, while the UK has had relative economic success. The strong pound over both Euro and US dollars has assured cheap holidays, investing products for the UK residents to buy. Many Brits have bought property in EU zone and USA.

Blair is a new labourite, hardly something the Scots Welsh and northern English love. Though politically, Bush and Blair's domestic policies would seem to be different they arent really and as far as the foreign policy they play footsie and compliment each other.

One last follow up thought.

Of course Blair is the poodle of Bush. Now here is the scary part. Guess who Bush and most of the rest of the government of the US are poodles for.

Recently, I saw where the US has given $130 billion of foreign aid to this country over the last 30 years. What happened if only a billion dollars of that aid has came back to influence the political process of this country.

In addition, if one looks back Rumsfeld, Pearle and other members of the Neocon crew were paid consultants to this country before they joined this administration. Hummm, I wonder if they have any allegiance to their old client.

So I guess Blair is ultimately their poodle also!
