Obviously a proud man with a social conscience who, had he publicly expressed his feeling of failure would probably have been admired and forgiven but, the irony is, the attitude of his fellow generals who were equally as, and some more, culpable in both France and Gallipoli yet they enjoyed the remainder of their lives unscathed and admired. Regretfully, and sad as it may sound but, that's the reflection of the public's arrogance towards failure!
Sir Beauchamp Duff obviously suffered from a Major Deression,an illness which unfortunately has a high mortality rate.It is still a major illlness that affects millions but can be treated today,by care, support and medication.Depression is not a character defect or failure but an illness.
