The cannabis prohibition is only a Puritan spasm of the US that other countries are copying in order to cosy up to the American prohibitionists and get money and business deals from them. Everyone knows that it's no big deal to smoke a joint now and then - just like having a beer or drinking Chianti with the spaghetti.

The cannabis hysteria is manufactured by people who strive to impose uniformity on those who are unlucky enough to live where the neo-Puritans hold sway. The cannabis hysteria is based entirely on lies. Supposedly, smoking pot makes one stupid and devoid of ambition. Leaving aside the question whether ambition is always a positive thing, I haven't noticed a lessened competition for university seats or well-paying jobs anywhere in spite of the large number of cannabis users, a number that is growing by leaps and bounds, year after year.

Also, I fail to grasp the problem described by Jayne from Texas, "they deny its a problem cause theyre doing good in school or able to work." If someone does their duty well, lives decently and smokes pot, why is that a problem? It's only a problem for the neo-Puritans who are trying their version of Gleichrichtung, so loved by the Nazis of yore.

What a Big Surprise that "the areas with the highest levels of drug use are not always the same as those with the highest concentration of delinquency." I am sure the family of the late astronomer Dr. Carl Sagan, an avid cannabis user, and Prof. Kary Mullis, the Nobel Laureate recreational drug user, will be relieved to hear that, don't you think?

It is time for you people to drop this Kabuki dance over cannabis. People enjoy the plant across all social, economic, and educational strata. If cannabis were legalized, one would be hard put to point out any differences to how things are now, only fewer people would be in jail for this manufactured offence. Does not matter where you live,,,,,,,The youth of today have no hopes,everybody and their grannies on Hash, When i weent to school ,i had a club to go to every night in the school,weekends were spent playing hockey the pool or icerink,at night down to the com "community Centre" There was lots to do,i was a fully grown adult before i even knew about drugs> I know for a fact that lots of kids are dabbling because there is nothing to do that does not cost money,One piece of hash for 7 pounds can be shared between loads of kids,just like we all shared the bottle of cider betweeen ten of us,,it only takes a puff or two to get you high,and you can hide it well,and in most cases function, and that is where the worry lies,they deny its a problem cause theyre doing good in school or able to work,,,,,,,,, with other drugs thats not the case,

I dont know why the authors of these kind of reports
are surprised that drugs are used by a large cross section of society, some of us druggys have been well aware of the true picture for a long time.

Personaly I think ALL politicians should be made to take 600mcg of LSD once a month even if they hated it..Teach them a lesson!!
