SANDI Thom, the singer who reached No1 after finding fame on the internet, has had the video for her latest single banned from YouTube because of scenes of drug-taking.
The 27-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter said she only discovered what had happened on Friday after logging on to the website.

She discovered the video for Saturday Night had been removed.

She told The Scotsman that the video, which featured a compilation of images sent in by fans of their Saturday nights, was discovered to have contained "inappropriate" scenes, including one of a man with what appeared to be four lines of cocaine in front of him.

The images also featured a man with his hands down his trousers, she said.

"I thought it was hilarious in a way when I found out they'd banned it, but I also felt bad for my fans who had sent in their pictures in good faith who won't get to see them now," said Thom.

The singer, who was raised in MacDuff, Aberdeenshire, was one of the first musicians to gain recognition via the internet. She reached No1 in 2006 with I Wish I Was a Punkrocker (with flowers in my hair).

She was always a fake wannabe punk. Much better was Andy Cameron's song, the B side to Ally's Army, written by Peter Nardini -

Ah want tae be a punk rocker but ma mammy wullny let me
She says if ah'm a punk she'll throw me oot and hit me
A want tae be a punk rocker but ah'm feart tae be a punk
Cos ma mammy wullny let me be a punk

A want tae go intae a cafe an make them aw feel seeck
Wi' a great big rusty safety pin stickin through ma cheek
A want tae really be a scunner and dae things that are awfy
like pick ma nose and dip it in ma coffee

A want tae listen tae John Peel cos he plays aw thur hits
and thur full o' sex appeal like Fiona Richmonds lips
A want tae be a punk when thur music is forgotten
I'll still be there tae strangle Johnny Rotten.

When oh when are people going to realise that "banning" anything just doesn't work and pushing your opinion on to someone else is just another form of bullying? If people want to see the offending vid, they'll see it ... and frankly I'm old enough to make up my own mind and would rather NOT have someone do it for me! That's too Big Brother-ish ... and this country's bad enough already in that particular way.

There is no "internet ban" on the video. Just one site choosing to remove it. It's probably still available on youtube (most things appear more than once). And it will still be available on loads of other sites.

Why this is getting any attention is beyond me. Its so obvious that Ms Thom or her team have done this to get press attention for her single which failed to get into the top 100 never mind the top 20. The Video must have been edited before it went on youtube so they must have known the content and realised they had something that could be used if the single wasnt selling. Its the same with her Lily Allen comments, she has used the internet again to get her name in print at a time when her career is failing.
This is self publicity at its very worst.

#8- Hey! Vote UKIP for more drugs!

Will UKIP allow drug dealers to advertise their wares?

#9 - sorry to be pedantic, but the phrase ends with "snook", not snoop.

I take your point though, it wouldn't let me type in the offending word with asterisks inserted as it thought it was another word that also ends in "c k" and rhymes with luck.

People are so small-minded nowadays.

Like on programs like Sexetera where they pixellate any part of interest.

#14. Im wondering why no reporter has asked Sandi Thom or her people why they allowed the images to go up on her offcial youtube page knowing full well they showed images that would be banned for showing illegal activity?. Sandi thom asked her fans to send photograghs in so she could make a video for her single. There is no way that these images couldve been uploaded without her or her teams knowledge. She was caught out last time she tried to fool the press and public with her so called internet fame and it seems she is trying the same old trick again.
