AN INFLUX of tourists to Peru's famed Machu Picchu may prompt Unesco to add the jungle-shrouded ruins to its list of endangered World Heritage sites.
Visitors to Machu Picchu, Peru's top tourist destination, have more than doubled since 1998 to 800,000 a year.

There are too many people in the world who want to have the "international world-traveller" experience whilst ruining some of the great wonders of the ancient and VERY ancient world such as the pyramids at Giza.

Just twenty-five years ago they were pleasant to visit but now there is a highway that goes up to the Great Pyramid of Khufu practically at its front door and the pollution from Cairo and the motorcars is choking and eating away the the Sphinx and some of the more fragile monument in the Giza complex.

Disgusting.

Sadly Tim you are correct, but the problem is with the local authorities to control it. It would be sad if individuals were prevented from experiencing these great wonders.
