ART thieves who tried to sell a Florentine painting worth 2.5 million to undercover officers for 5,000 have been arrested by Romanian police, officials said yesterday.
The thieves slightly damaged Madonna with Child, Two Saints, Two Angels during transport in the boot of a car to the city of Brasov, said Codrut Olaru, the head of Romania's anti-organised crime police.
