Insurgents to make peace plan decision

Afghanistan: Taliban insurgents said today they were drawing up a response to an offer from President Hamid Karzai of safe passage for insurgent leaders who wanted peace.
Karzai said on Sunday he would guarantee the safety of Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar if he would negotiate.

United States: More residents of California were urged to leave their homes despite calming winds that allowed a major attack on wildfires that have destroyed hundreds of homes.

The Taliban has turned down the offer of peace negotiations. they have said as long as there are foreign troops in Afghanistan they will not sit down for peace talks.
The Taliban will pursue jihad... from the AP 11/17/08
