SCOTTISH Labour leader Wendy Alexander will not be prosecuted for failing to register donations to her leadership campaign.
A spokesman for the Crown Office, which is responsible for prosecutions in Scotland, said further action "would not be appropriate in the full circumstances of this case".
It was revealed last month that Dr Jim Dyer, the Scottish Parliament's standards watchdog, had sent a report to the procurator fiscal in Lothian and Borders concerning Ms Alexander. But SNP MSP Roseanna Cunningham said the decision would surprise no one.
Ms Cunningham said: "Following the Electoral Commission's failure to take action it was unlikely the procurator fiscal would do anything else."
But the Perth MSP claimed that Ms Alexander's future was "still far from secure".
She said: "Her failure in Parliament and failure to win the support of her party remains a threat to her leadership."
