DUNDEE has recruited a group of "celebrity ambassadors", including Lorraine Kelly and Brian Cox, to promote the city through its new slogan 'One City, Many Discoveries'.
The 'City of Discovery' message – which was first used more than two decades ago – is being replaced with the slogan and a logo based on a spark.

Helping to illuminate key discoveries about the city, the "ambassadors" are high-profile individuals who reveal the stories they believe show how Dundee became what it is.

Among those signed up are Hollywood actor Brian Cox, scientist Sir Philip Cohen, television presenter and journalist Lorraine Kelly, gaming entrepreneur Chris van der Kuyl and musician and composer Ged Grimes.

They have urged other residents to become involved by contributing their own personal stories and discoveries about the city.

Councillor Will Dawson, economic development convener said: "While Dundee has been linked with the notion of 'discovery' for many years, there is still much more to the city than many people know.

"Our new One City, Many Discoveries campaign builds on our heritage and, fittingly as we move forward with our ambitious waterfront development, represents the next exciting chapter in Dundee's story."

You bet. Maybe he could pretend he was from Nablus originally - oh - hang on a minute - he probably does think that.

Dundee - a great place to come from - and stay away. No just joking. Although Eh'm fae Dundee, and have indeed stayed away for a while, it's still no' bad when I get back.

The big question in my mind is why Brian Cox, mentioned in the list of notables nearly always has a fakey Southern accent in his films?!

To paraphrase “why when everybody around you believes you to be a fool, do you hit the keyboard and prove it beyond doubt”
