THE British military presence in Northern Ireland is being downgraded in the new year.
The army's General Officer Commanding is leaving to take up a new command in Baghdad and a brigadier will be put in charge. It will be the first time since the foundation of the state in 1921 that there has been no General Officer Commanding.

This is proof that the Army acheived its mission in Northern Ireland.
the police now operate on their own and the Army maintains a peacetime Garrison. Young people in Ireland (both sides of the Border) are joining the British army in increaseing numbers while terrorists fight extradition and die of drug overdoses.

These Extremeists used to chant 'our time will come'!!!! it hasent and will not.

A long hard slog a difficult job but one that was done well, just a shame our politicians do not have the backbone to stand up and acknowledge a mission acomplished.
