Apology over car crash ad

CHANNEL 4 apologised for offending viewers today after a graphic advert showing a car crash was broadcast during an afternoon episode of The Simpsons.
The broadcaster said it had mistakenly shown the advert, part of the Department for Transport road safety campaign, before the 9pm watershed. Ten people complained.

I'd rather watch a feature length film of graphic car crashes than one episode of the Simpsons.

Anyway, if the advert concerned is the one I think it is---about wearing seatbelts---then it is actually un-neccessarily gory in any case. the commentary is sufficient, the computer-generated images of what is supposedly happening inside the man's body is way over the top.

On the other hand, is the ad not actually aimed at the very audience watching The Simpsons?
