THE family of West End lyricist Sir Tim Rice have offered a home to 32 red squirrels to help efforts to protect the iconic species in Scotland.
The animals have been taken from a number of locations around the Highlands and moved to the 33,000-acre Dundonnell Estate in Wester Ross.
The estate was bought by Sir Tim for £2 million in 1998. His wife, Lady Jane, from whom he is separated, and his eldest son, Donald, instigated the squirrel project with the help of ecologist and wildlife consultant Roy Dennis.
