McKies end call for probe

THE father of a former policewoman wrongly accused of leaving her fingerprint at a murder scene today revealed they are to end their campaign for a public inquiry into the case.
Iain McKie said he and his daughter Shirley would not take part in any future public inquiry into the case.

In February Ms McKie received a £750,000 out of court settlement from the Scottish Executive.

Mr McKie, 67, explained: "It will be 10 years in January since the murder of Marion Ross and come the end of the decade we're finished.

We've got to get on with our lives."

Interesting.

Has the McKie insider delivered some bad news with the bottle of mulled wine?

Mr. McKie may want to stop the ride and get off, but the problem is that the ride hasn't finished, there are a number of people who McKie has slurred and libelled over the last 10 years who aren't quite ready to stop just yet.

Mr. McKie cannot just destroy the working lives and attempt to destroy the reputations of those SCRO officers and then just decide to throw the towel in.

Will Mr. McKie be refunding the m(any?) contributions to his immensely popular 'fighting fund'?

Is Mr. McKie going to continue to profit from the Death of Marion Ross via his lecture tour and booksales?

He can't just walk away.
If Justice One has realised the lies and tricks that have been used over the last 10 years then they can only call for a judicial inquiry.

Mr. McKie didn't succeed in telling Pauline McNeill how to run the inquiry, I can't see him having any better luck with a judge!

Lets remember that a lot of public money had been flung at this, lets remember that the person who murdered Marion Ross is free to do it again.

Sorry Mr. McKie, and sorry Shirley, you are not just going to walk away and get on with your lives.
You and your acolytes still have a hell of a lot to answer for.

When the going gets tough the the McKies get going. This pair, and their SNP lickspittles, were more that happy to squeal for a judicial inquiry when they knew there was no chance of getting one. Now that Colin Boyd was forced to high-tail it out of town (because of the DNA on Asbury's watch) the situation has changed. The Justice 1 committee has had to sit and listen to liar after liar and charlatan after charlatan. Whatever happened to McKie's pal Alan Bayle? Let there be no mistake, the people whom the McKies have villied in their nasty and vindictive campaign will not let the matter rest. What the McKies have failed to grasp is that this is about integrity and justice, not about money or book sales. Marion Ross's muderer is still walking free, everybody involved knows who he is, that's the real tragedy in this case.

I'm sorry if you found my comment on Mr. McKies lucrative search for 'justice' in bad taste, but there has been much of this case that has been hard to stomach for many others.

Unfortunately Mr Chips, like vinegar, sometimes you need a sour tasting garnish to get the full flavour of something.

Rab the acolyte, I suppose one key question is 'How did Shirley get away with so spectacularly misleading the jury at her perjury trial' and another is 'Do you think the jury would have been quite so keen to clear her had they known about her first expert?'

Another, pointed out by Searchlight is 'Why do the McKies go through the motions of wanting their day in court but never quite get there?'

Integrity and justice have not been served and I support the SCRO officers whom have been used as scapegoats in this case. The campaign will continue irrespective of McKie's decision. He and his daughter cannot dictate the end, this is just the beginning!!!!!!

I dont believe for one second that Iain McKie will disappear in January. This is another non-story from the former Strathclyde Police Media Officer. Over the past ten years he has used his contacts to ensure that a false impression of his daughter has been forced on the Scottish Public.
The SNP fell for their sob-story and Alex Neil seems satisfied to continue digging both himself and his party into a bigger hole. The Executive is only interested in the headlines and it is more acceptable to them for 6 SCRO officers to be hung out to dry, than questions being asked of the competence of HMIC, The Crown Office and Executive Civil Servants.
It is typical of McKie to spoil xmas for the SCRO officers and the relatives of Marion Ross by having his daughter all over the media at a time when they should be enjoying being with their families, but what I find most sickening is that Marion Ross's family will now have to spent the next two weeks wondering what headline grabbing media event Iain Mckie has planned for the 10th anniversary of her death.
The media are not interested in truth, just a cheap story. On the rare occasions that the SCRO officers and their supporters speak out they never get a fair hearing. McKie's announcement was published in at least 3 major papers and featured on BBC Scotland. A unison response was only mentioned in one paper.(not the Scotsman). Remember they have been gagged by their employer, only their union can speak for them.
If so-called investigative journalists were to actually read the evidence in front of Justice 1 and start to question the integrity of those who have supported McKie, perhaps the Scottish Public would get to see how those responsible for administering Justice are only interested in preserving their own reputations.
