THE leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats has written to the First Minister claiming he has failed to provide information about climate change requested three months ago.
Tavish Scott, in a letter to Alex Salmond, reminds him that during First Minister's Questions on 19 March he asked for some information, which he said has still not been delivered.
Mr Scott said he wanted to be told how much of the government's fi
nancial stimuli had been committed to tackling environmental issues and climate change in Scotland.
"Unfortunately, nearly three months on, your government has still not yet published these figures," he said in the letter, seen by The Scotsman.
He added: "In the interest of passing scientifically credible and knowledgeable law, it is very important the Scottish Government acts, when requested, to assist (MSPs] with information.
"Sadly, in respect to the issue of climate change, I do not think this has been the case."
He said Mr Salmond had shown a "blatant disregard to the relationship of accountability that should exist between the parliament and the government".
He added this information was crucial to help ministers form views when considering the Climate Change (Scotland) Bill, due for final discussion on Wednesday.
Mr Scott made another plea in the letter for the First Minister to provide the information in time for Wednesday's debate and vote.
"If we as a country are to act, then Members of the Scottish Parliament should be able to consider all of the information available before making their historic decisions," he said.
"Hopefully you will agree that this is an opportunity we can ill afford to squander and will guarantee to publish the figures you promised on 19th March."
