A PASSENGER jet was forced into an emergency landing today after a warning light in the cockpit indicated there was a fire in the hold.
The Los Angeles-bound American Airlines plane, carrying 207 passengers and crew, had taken off from London Heathrow but was diverted to Glasgow when the light showed.
The Boeing 777-200 touched down at Glasgow Airport around 1.30pm, a spokesman for airport operator BAA said.
Fire services were on the scene but were not required and it is being treated as a false alarm as no fire was discovered.
All the passengers disembarked after landing.
The BAA spokesman said American Airlines was sending an engineer to Glasgow to check out the problem.
