Protesters hail road tolls axe

THE National Alliance Against Tolls has welcomed the official abolition of tolls on the Forth Road Bridge.
The toll plaza is expected to be removed in February and the £1 fare abolished. A spokesman for the lobbying group said: "All the parties have voted for the Bill, but it is only right that it is primarily the SNP that should be thanked.

"Those of us who have campaigned against Scotland's tolls for many years have not forgotten that the SNP was the only party that in September 2001 voted against the reintroduction of the Erskine Bridge tolls."

What the hell is going on at this paper. Has Salmond not eaten any babies today or poked some beggar in the eye with his brolly? Surely the SNP must have broken some promises? Did they not promise free travel for cyclists within the first hundred days? This is very anti-English of them how dare they.............

Aye, the SNP have been helpful there is no doubt about that and so has Charlie Kennedy. You'd be surprised at what went on behind the scenes. Nichol was not very enthusiastic about the idea when he was transport minister in the coalition executive on matters concerning the Skye Bridge. Charlie can be very persuasive at times. Then there was folk like Robbie the Pict and he was something else. Tom Minnogue and others played their part too.SKAT based on Skye was an extremely competent organisation and I have no doubt the stink they raised in a very successful campaign which influenced decision making in the matter of bridge tolls and PFI /PPP scams. They may also have play a part in trouncing the proposed Edinburgh Congestion charges and may have caused a bit of grief elsewhere, (foreign parts even) on related subjects.

..and ah'm not saying anymore than that for it could be taken down and used in.... sufficient to say i once had a rendition flight amongst other inconveniences due to my opposition of bridge tolls.

But besides the commitment of the dedicated was the backing for just cause by the general public.It can be done so what's next?

... well there's the matter of 130 unsound criminal convictions based on hearsay evidence of law abiding folk left over from the hubris of the Skye toll bridge scam.That remains to be sorted, doesn't it.

..and then we get on with with an eviction of whatever power and influence from a neighbouring country and their " they say and we pay" interference,.Can't we?
