EDINBURGH North and Leith MP Mark Lazarowicz has said a new government report backs up his campaign for small-scale energy production.
The report concludes that microgeneration through the likes of solar panels or mini-wind turbines for homes could produce enough energy by 2020 to generate as much output as five nuclear power stations.

Two years ago Mr Lazarowicz's private members Bill aimed at boosting microgeneration became legislation in the form of the Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Act 2006.

Mr Lazarowicz said: "With the right type of measures taken by governments the number of microgeneration installations could increase 100 fold by 2020."

Possibly what's needed here is small amount of money budgeted accurately for pilot schemes to take place in realistic locations (not e.g. a cottage on top of a 1500' hill! And demonstrably prove these assertions before we all fall for yet more climate propaganda. see the separate item on "19M fund for climate battle".

It would be interesting to know whether Mr. Lazarowicz has any business interests in this area?
