Flint keeps her steely resolve

LABOUR MP Caroline Flint yesterday said she had no regrets about accusing Gordon Brown of treating women as "window dressing".

Flint quit as Europe minister last month, accusing the Prime Minister of using his women ministers as "female window dressing" and of running a "two-tier" government.

The MP for Don Valley said: "I stand by what I said. No, I don't have any regrets."

She added: "For me, it was a personal decision that if I didn't feel I had the 100 per cent confidence of the Prime Minister then I didn't feel able to carry on."



She defended the letter saying: "I think I've always been pretty direct." She added: "The Prime Minister seems to have taken some of the points on board."

She said the government had to "knuckle down" and focus on delivering on policies and keeping in touch with the electorate in the run-up to the General Election:

"I think Gordon will be leading us into the election. I see no other scenario at the moment."
