John Reid's comments about the so-called "famine song" (your report, 29 September) are inaccurate. The song is in poor taste, but it is not "racist", as it is aimed not at people of Irish descent as such, nor the famine itself, but at Celtic fans and, as those singing the song see it, their mawkish and misinformed fixation with certain events in Irish history.
