Hugh Kerr must be aware that the Edinburgh Festival is an international one, envied the world over. And "international" means the director, Jonathan Mills, presents exciting performances from around the globe, even if they do include "an obscure Polish opera and a little-performed Smetana opera".
Mr Kerr says Scottish Opera would be better off producing and exporting James MacMillan's new opera. To reflect Mr Kerr's parochial thinking, I hope the opera is based on the exploits of Oor Wullie and the Broons, to give it a true Scottish "feel". See you at the Whirling Dervishes, Hugh.
