Nuclear sanctions tabled at UN to rein in North Korea

WESTERN powers have reached agreement with North Korea's allies on a United Nations proposal that would impose tough new sanctions on weapons exports and allow inspection of cargo in ports and on the high seas.
The draft resolution, which must still be approved by the UN Security Council, is aimed at preventing North Korea from obtaining and exporting material, finance and know-how to produce nuclear weapons and missiles.

US ambassador Susan Rice presented the draft resolution yesterday, calling it "a very strong, very credible" response to North Korea's second nuclear test on 25 May, which defied a security council resolution.

"This sanctions regime will bite, and bite in a meaningful way," she said. "We think that the message that the council will send should it adopt this resolution is that North Korea's behaviour is unacceptable, they must pay a price."

On Monday, Pyongyang's main Rodong Sinmun newspaper said the country would consider sanctions a declaration of war and respond with "self-defence measures". On Tuesday the country said it would use nuclear weapons in a "merciless offensive" if provoked.

The West has no real answer.
Further sanctions probably will only make it miserable for the people.
It might end up that North Korea will make a slip and war with the South will breakout.
Whatever the West does...it must never, ever take its eyes off China.
Its truly suits Chinas' huge military buildup for there to be a distraction in the region.
North Korea dances for the world and China builds her armies behind the distraction she engineered.

One looks for a conspiracy between China and North Korea for military advantage.

You are without a doubt a sorry case mate.I have wandered through Military restricted areas here and no one took a blind bit of notice of me.The same place Mao used to go for his R&R was swarming with PLA and Armed Police. I took photographs and no one took a blind bit of notice. So awa and bile yer heid! The name of the place Mao stayed was BangChuiDao, Google it and you will see it contains a golf course and anyone is welcome. Find a new Conspiracy theory, you have done this one to death to no good end. Grow Up!

Sorry, but I believe that Gibson is to some extent correct.

The governments of both China and NK are in some respects similar and not only the West, but indeed, the rest of the world should keep it's eyes on both, not forgetting to throw in the Russians for good measure.

they think the usa will attack them,all this was in a documentry shown on tv last year i think
china may have a face for the west,a smiling benevolent one,whilst on the other side a face of a demon of hate ,wanting death to all westerners
i would trust them as far as i could chuck a sweet and sour chicken

Im sorry old chap but I dont care two shillings for what military strategists say about China.
China is portrayed in The Bible in The Book of Revelation 9:16 and 16:12 as being the 'Kings Of The East' asian army (her and the nations in the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation group).
If strategists start at this point, the point of the outward march of the Kings Of The East, and work backwards they can 'scenario' with some accuracy what is going to happen.
1. there is no mighty USA to stop this army,
2. where is America?
Amercia needs to be constantly aware of both Russia and China and them working in conspiracy against her.

We christians know the Holy Bible is the truth because when a man or a woman confesses his or her sins to God and invites Jesus Christ into their lives as their Saviour they immediately receive The Holy Spirit who confirms the Holy Bible as the truth.
No other belief has The Holy Spirit.
HE belongs solely to Christianity.
The christians alone are in contact with God and His Word.
The Kings Of The East will march out across asia...and we all have to be ready.
Part of Australia is I believe already lost. Visions and prophecies tell me that thousands will die in the defence of Australia.
I believe in prophecies too.

I'm certainly not into religion in any way, shape or form, but I do believe the world needs to keep alert and watchful of two-faced China, paranoid NK and Mafia Russia. The governments of these 3 countries are 3 good reasons why we cannot ditch nuclear weapons and indeed any weapons of mass destruction.

Hi Peter.
I met a lady christian prophet in Sydney some years ago and she said that God Spoke to her one day and called China the "deceiver" and "the great deceiver". That was good enough for me.
China smiles at the West and blows her gentle flute and says to the West, "come and invest with us, come and dance with us, we will help keep your economies alive"...yet behind her back is a dagger.

China builds a vast army with no need.
God has also called China a 'nation of barbarism'.

Old China is capable of anything against the USA and the West.
