Is it not time this was put to bed?
Does Alex Neil have nothing better to do?
It was Alex Neil on the 6th November who said he was "very, very confident" details of at least one rival bid (for HBOS)would be made public within the next few days.
Mr Neil also claimed there was an "arrogant presumption" made by senior figures in both Lloyds TSB and HBOS that the deal would go through and added: "They seem to forget that the shareholders have not yet, and I don't believe they will, approve this merger."
Well Mr Neil, wrong again. 96% of LLoyds shareholders voted 'Yes'.
The Merger is a done deal, its time to move on.

Ye, that's right! Nothing to see here! Just move on. Ignore the Prime Minister and the Chancellor pre-empting the legal requirement for it ot go before the MMC! Go on! Move along!

so if an independent HBOS is such a great idea, how come these businessmen cannot raise 1 penny to make a serious bid ? They have no money themselves and cannot raise any througout the entire globe ? Why have not one of the other banks or financial services companies anywhere else in the UK or World been interested enough to make an offer ? Hmmmm maybe because its not a viable bank ? Why can none of these businessmen expose a serious business plan and detailed change of strategy that would turn around the dismal performance of this bank ? They try to cover their lack of money and a plan with emotive frenzy whipping of Nationalists and others of small mind who can only focus on this as a Nationalism issue. Its really really sad and embarassing as a Scot to see this small time parochialism splashed around the headlines.

Rufus...
We know it's a waste of time. The Great Leader from London has told us it is a waste of time. He'll have no truck with anything else. He will squash anything or anyone who gets in his way. He's totally mad you see and very desperate.
But, decent men will go on trying to save the banking and financial systems in Scotland. That's what decent men do (among, I have no doubt, other things). Thank god for them. Just wish we had one in Downing Street.
