Other countries have bad cops, but they deal with it. The last time British police officers were convicted and imprisoned for "death in police custody" was in 1969. Two cops were in the habit of persecuting a homeless guy (although their persecution had caused him to become homeless) and one night threw him in a canal where he drowned. A fellow officer was so disgusted be reported this pair of beauties. An exceedingly rare occurrence. Even then they only went down for assault, the judge specifically warning the jury against returning a manslaughter verdict. The justification for this totally corrupt treatment of police officers is that, "the pubic would lose confidence in the police and criminal justice system". A little late in the day to worry about that I venture to say. So what’s the subliminal message? “You’re a cop; you can get away with murder.”
