ACUPUNCTURE does not boost women's chances of conceiving through IVF, two new studies have found.
Giving women acupuncture in conjunction with fertility treatment has proved controversial. Now separate studies in the United States and Hong Kong have found that acupuncture appears to have no effect in boosting a woman's chances of falling pregnant.

I always thought having "acupuncture" to help one conceive was i 'little barmy', as the article portrays there is no 'scientific evidence', and 'lets-face-it' how can a few 'needles' stuck in allover your body, gonna make you,..'Pregnant'?

Better one See's the,....'Witch Doctor'!

My DYW wouldn't have this anyhow, she hates needles!

I don't know. I have arthritis in the spine and went on a course of acupuncture. I also went to a wee lassy from Queensland who did manipulation. She caused me considerable grief and I never knew how aggressive those wee Queenslanders would be. It certainly cured it, but that was about seven years ago and it has come back. I would think that I am back to acupuncture since most of the local lassys couldn't break your arm if they tried. Never tried it to improve my fertility.

Sorry, drunken proffet, but there is scant evidence that acupuncture works for anything. There is also the problem of a post hoc, ergo propter hoc fallacy: just because your arthritis got better after acupuncture does not mean the acupuncture had anything to do with it. What's needed are good quality scientific trials to test acupuncture - but many have already been done and they do not show that acupuncture works.
