IT MAY be no coincidence that so many relationships start with an invitation to "come in for a coffee", research suggests.
A study has found that merely holding a hot coffee cup leads a person to see others as more generous and caring.

Researchers also discovered that warm hands make people more inclined to give than to receive.

They believe descriptions of "warm"
or "cold" people tap into sensations and experiences dating back to an infant's first contact with its mother.

Psychologists in the US carried out the experiment to test the hypothesis. First, a number of unsuspecting students were casually asked to hold either a cup of hot coffee or iced coffee, while a researcher wrote down information.

The students were then asked to assess the personality traits of an individual whose details they were given. Those who had held the hot cup judged the target person to be significantly "warmer" – more generous and caring – than those who had held the cold cup.

In the second part of the study, volunteers were asked to "product test" either icy or hot therapeutic pads used for pain management.

After holding the pads for a short time, they were allowed to choose either a gift for themselves or for a friend as a reward for taking part in the study.

Those who held the hot pad were more likely to want a gift for a friend, while those with cold hands were inclined to choose a reward for themselves.

Imaging studies suggested that the same part of the brain processes both physical and psychological warmth information, said the scientists.

2dogs in D.C ~4,

Never knew you had a "DYW" also! :)

"How are things progressing in your life"?

Dammed Awful at present, not only did the IVF fail, some that saw it fit, totally abused the trust she had in them,

Result was, she ended up in Accident and Emergency, and is not the wife I know, to this day!

I do 'Jest', but this difficult situation that we are both going through, needs one of us to be strong, a shoulder ready, when needed.

My Love 'WONT' Be Broken though!, I will be her 'Rock' when needed and wanted,

I am her 'Rock' now, even after what she went through, she, does not realise at this present time.

What can I do?

A terrible situation to be in, and does lead to more,...

.."Coffee Drinking"

(for me of-course)

I thought that everyone started the day with hot coffee and a couple of ciggies. At my age, I realise that it is most likely bad for me, however I only get the vivid images of my lungs in most adverts, rather than the condition of my intestines through drinking the stuff. There is no doubt that those guys know how to scare the sh*t out of you. If it gets any worse I may contemplate taking McEwans Export in my cornflakes.

"A study has found that merely holding a hot coffee cup leads a person to see others as more generous and caring."

Nothing whatsoever to do with the gallon of beer and half bottle of Bacardi they have consumed between them in the preceding 5 hours then eh?

I DO hope people are drinking FAIR TRADE coffee so that the poor beleaguered coffee plantation worker can get a decent wage from his or her labours.

It is a bit more expensive - especially if it is organic - but I drink ONLY fair trade organic because I can afford it and like my money to go to the workers rather than the rich owners.
