Hearing loss awareness campaign comes to city

INFORMATION on how to spot the signs of hearing loss will be given to people in the Capital as part of Deaf Awareness Week.

RNID Scotland – which represents 758,000 deaf and hard of hearing people in Scotland – will give advice at St Mary's RC Cathedral Hall tomorrow.

People will have the chance to check out equipment such as personal listeners, which can make everyday life easier for deaf and hard of hearing people.

Deirdre O'Flynn, RNID Scotland's regional communications officer, said: "We're looking forward to speaking with people who are concerned they, or someone they know, may have a hearing loss and reassuring them about the support and technology that's available to ensure they're not isolated from family, friends and colleagues."

RNID Scotland will be in St Mary's RC Cathedral Hall between 10.30am and 4pm.

The charity is inviting people to upload images of the sounds they would miss the most if they lost their hearing, as part of its national photographic competition.
