FIREFIGHTERS last night tackled a major blaze on the construction site of a new housing development.
Emergency services received reports of the fire at Kelvindale Glade in the west of Glasgow about 7:35pm. Five fire engines were needed to tackle the blaze.
A fire service spokesman said: " The incident commander was faced with a well-developed fire within a building under construction.
"The structure was surrounded by scaffolding which had started to buckle due to the intensity of the heat."
