SIGNS which warn drivers of disruption on the Forth Road Bridge are now up and running.
The electronic signs were the brainchild of a working group set up by the Forth Estuary Transport Authority (FETA) after a number of incidents in which drivers faced delays due to vehicles being blown over in high winds.

The signs will operate on the approach roads leading to the bridge and the crossing itself.

A FETA spokesman said: "We've had quite a lot of positive feedback about these signs so far. There is no doubt that they have made a difference."

'YOU'RE IN A TRAFFIC JAM WITH NO WAY OUT' - thanks !

If these signs could be integrated with a traffic management plan then great. As is, they either state 'the bleeding obvious' or provide banal safety messages. For the huge cost of these signs they could do a lot more; & if they can't then sell them off as advertising hoardings.

They may cost a lot of money to build and keep running, but what else will wish you a merry christmas and happy new year in december?

No tram stories today, we'd better blame them for this one then.
