TEN football supporters were yesterday banned from all Scottish Premier League matches after being charged with a breach of the peace.
The fans appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court accused of forming a disorderly crowd in Fountainbridge and Lothian Road following the Hearts v Hibs derby match on 15 October.

The crowd is alleged to have thrown bottles, traffic cones and other miss
iles.

The men are also accused, while acting with other unknown people, of gesticulating, disrupting traffic, challenging people to a fight, and shouting and swearing.

The accused, aged between 20 and 39, appeared one at a time and were released on bail on condition that they stay away from all Scottish Premier League matches until their cases have been dealt with.

The supporters, who made no plea or declaration, are also barred from Fountainbridge and Lothian Road.

Nine of those in court had addresses in the capital. They were: Alan Bomford, 39, of Parkgrove Road; Douglas Brown, 21, of Findlay Gardens; Kevin Doctor, 38, of Restalrig Road South; Andrew Jordan, 21, of Howdenhall Loan; Peter Whitehead, 23, of Forrester Park Avenue; Stewart Elliott, 22, of Telford Road; Raymond McLeod, 37, of Clovenstone Park; Stephen Crawford, 35, of Sighthill Bank; and Kristofer McCall, 23, of Redhall Road.

The tenth man, Justin Main, 20, was from Caponhall Court, in Tranent, East Lothian.

They all had their cases continued for further inquiries. An 11th man was on the indictment but did not appear. The supporters were arrested in on Tuesday.

Have a look at the number of men in their late thirties amongst that motley crew. Are they not beyond all this at their age?

Football bams........... what would life be like without them?

This sort of thing that goes on in Lothian Road, the Grassmarket, Fountainbridge and plenty of other areas in Edinburgh every weekend? Are these people just being made an example of because they happen to be so called football fans, or do the police constantly spend weeks on end trolling through cctv images so they can charge people with breach of the peace.

Think it is out of order that these persons names and addresses have been published for what is nothing more than an allegation at this moment and time. I know for a fact that at least one of the named persons wasn't at, or watched, any football match on that particular day yet they still label these alleged perpetrators of violence as football fans.
So we now have a situation where possible innocents are named but on top of that, if some of those men were indeed involved in this disturbance they are going to be treated in a different manner due to them being 'football fans' as opposed to any other idiot on Lothian Road during a Friday/Saturday night!
Seems to me these guys ar going down no matter what.
