STUDENTS finishing their first year at university have been reminded to update the address on their TV licence and avoid a fine.
More than 20,000 city freshers are due to complete their first year in the next few weeks.
And TV Licensing is issuing a warning to those students moving out of their accommodation that, unless they update their address details, their TV Licence will not cover them. Those who are unlicensed risk a fine of up to £1000, plus the cost of a new licence if they still need one.
Students who have a TV Licence are being urged to update their address details online.
Fergus Reid, TV Licensing spokesperson for Scotland, said: "Many people believe that when they move, their licence moves with them – however this is not the case. TV Licensing wants to make life easier for students by encouraging them to get their admin done now."
